Guidance and Counseling

Our Mission Statement

The mission of the Bear River High School Guidance & Counseling Department is to provide a comprehensive network of support services to enhance personal, social, and academic growth and achievement. In partnership with students, parents & guardians, educators, and community organizations, school counselors facilitate individual student experience and potential to become contributing members of a diverse global community.

Bear River Guidance Department

Bear River counselors help students understand their strengths, abilities, interests, talents, and personality characteristics so that the student can develop realistic personal, academic and career choices. Counselors advise on college majors, admission requirements, entrance exams, financial aid, and on trade, technical school, and apprenticeship programs and internships.

Our counselors also help students understand and deal with their social, behavioral, and personal choices. They emphasize individual and group preventive, developmental, and crisis counseling to provide students with the life skills needed to deal with issues before they occur, and to enhance personal, social, and academic growth. The counselors help facilitate special services, including alcohol and drug prevention, Females Achieving Change & Empowerment, conflict resolution, and the homeless student project.

Counselors work with students individually, in small groups, and with classes. Counselors work in collaboration with parents, teachers, school administrators, school psychologists, school nurses, social workers, law enforcement, community organizations, and other educational institutions.
